A 3-month old child who was born with four hands, four feet, and two genitals in November 2017 has successfully undergone a two-hour operation at the Philippine General Hospital on December 12, 2017 that separated his “parasitic twin” from his body.
Doctor Esther Saguil, a pediatric surgeon, explained that Baby Jay-R’s excess body parts were needed to be detached from his body in order to live a normal life, reported GMA.
Baby Jay-R’s parents, Percival and Maurine, said they were both nervous for their baby during the entire operation.
“Ninenerbiyos po ako. Para po akong nahihirapang huminga, Ma’am. Naawa po ako,” Maurine said.
“Masakit ang loob kasi natatakot na mapano ung bata,” Percival added.
Meanwhile, Belen Baguingan, the grandmother of the child, even called their pastor in Isabela to pray for her grandson.
After the successful operation, Baby Jay-R is now in stable condition and is expected to live a normal life.
