A woman’s attempt to smuggle Apple gadgets into China by strapping them to her body was thwarted by custom officials on Tuesday, July 11.
She was hiding 102 iPhones wrapped around her body and tried to enter the city of Shenzhen from Hong Kong.
The custom officers became suspicious after noticing that the woman’s upper body seemed disproportionate to her arms and legs.
After putting her through a metal detector, the woman was caught hiding four layers of iPhone gadgets and 15 luxury watches under her clothing.
The woman was wearing more clothes than appropriate in the sweltering hot weather, Chinese media quoted the custom officers as saying.
Buying iPhones in Hong Kong rather than in China is cheaper, making it a profitable business for smugglers.
