Resorts World Manila resumed its casino operations nearly four weeks after an arson attack that killed 38 people there.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) lifted the hotel-casino’s June 9 suspension order, said the Resorts World management in a statement.
Pagcor issued the resumption order after the company’s presentation of its Casino Security Protective Action Plans.
“We are bringing back the gaming operations on the ground and third floors of our integrated resort. The second floor will no longer be used for casino operations and will be utilized for other non-gaming purposes instead,” Resorts World Manila president and chief executive officer Kingson Sian said.
Resorts World also passed an inspection done by Pagcor to check improvements in its various protocols.
On June 2, Jessie Carlos stormed the hotel-casino armed with an automatic rifle and set fire on gaming tables. He then locked himself in one hotel room, set himself on fire and shot himself to dead. The fire’s smoke suffocated to death 38 guests and employees.
