Poultry products from the US, banned in South Korea!

After the first case of avian flu on commercial chicken farm, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong decided to limit the imports of poultry products from the US.

Soon after the report about the strain of H7 bird flu virus was confirmed in Tennessee, the South Korean Ministry said that they will ban the imports of U.S. poultry and eggs.

Other countries like Japan and Taiwan will also block poultry from the United States, but Hong Kong will only restrict products from Tennessee.

According to the report of CNBC, live poultry and eggs are subjected to be banned in South Korea, while heat-treated chicken meat and egg products can still be imported.

The reports also said that the infected farm has a contract to sell to Tyson Food Inc, one of the major U.S chicken companies.
As a result, Brazil, Chile, Australia, Canada, Thailand and the Philippines can import more chicken products in South Korea. -KCO
