Filipino chemistry teacher honored in China

A Filipino chemistry teacher recently got the highest honorary award for expatriates in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province in China.

Lilian Albarico of Dimataling, Zamboanga Del Sur received the Tengwengge Friendship Award in recognition for her contribution in the field of education, reported ABS-CBN News.

Albarico is the first Filipino recipient of the award and the only woman among eight awardees this year, the report said.

The Filipina teacher reportedly arrived in Nanchang City in 2009 and currently working at Nova Scotia Program, Sino-Canadian Department, Nanchang No. 2 High School in Nanchang City.

Established by the Nanchang City Municipal Government in 2005, the Tengwengge Pavilion Friendship Award is given bi-annually to Nanchang-based expatriates in recognition of their accomplishments and social, and cultural contributions to the city, said the news portal.
