Filipino Olympic figure skater Michael Martinez is all grown up now and he has shown his transformation through an Instagram photo captioned “before and after.”
Many netizens reacted to Michael’s new body as he transformed from “lanky to hunky.”
He posted several photos on his personal Instagram account showing his muscled up body. But it comes as no surprise as Martinez has vowed to become stronger to reduce the amount of injuries he sustains during training. Getting fitter and stronger also helps him improve his program by allowing him to perform more routines on the ice.
Martinez made history when he became the first and only Southeast Asian figure skater and contender to represent a tropical country, the Philippines, during 2014 Sochi Games Winter Olympics. The two-time Triglav Trophy champion proudly represented the country in the Olympics despite limited funding, and was able to bring home two gold medals from different figure skating competitions for two consecutive years.
The 20-year-old skater is set to lead the Philippine team in the 2017 Asian Winter Games on February 19 to 26 in Sapporo, Japan.
