Nearly a week after a devastating magnitude-7.2 earthquake shook Visayas displacing thousands; the popular tourist destination that is Panglao in Bohol is now devoid of tourists.
Several resorts in the area have reported huge number of losses following booking cancellations even as some roads are still rendered inaccessible due to the tremor.
Small businesses comprised mostly of souvenir vendors are also affected by the sudden disappearance of tourists.
The world renowned beach is not the only tourist attraction in the area affected by the calamity with the famed Chocolate Hills also having been damaged by the quake.
More, the Tarsier Conservation Area in Loboc had to be temporarily closed down as well.
Although the worst is likely over, many residents still fear for their safety as aftershocks could still be felt in and around the island.
Phivolcs said that aftershocks may continue for weeks to months, but will diminish in number and strength as time passes.
