The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned what it described as an Iranian “terrorist attack” involving two drones that targeted a national carrier affiliated with ADNOC while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
No injuries were reported.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the incident constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscores the importance of freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels or the obstruction of international maritime routes.
The ministry said targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic coercion or blackmail amounts to acts of piracy by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, posing a direct threat to regional stability, its populations, and global energy security.
The UAE called on Iran to halt what it described as unprovoked attacks, commit to an immediate cessation of hostilities, and ensure the full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard regional security and maintain the stability of global trade and the economy.
