UAE launches emergency aid for victims of Mindanao earthquake

The United Arab Emirates has launched an emergency humanitarian response to assist communities affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao earlier this week.

In a statement, the UAE Aid Agency said it is providing urgent relief assistance to support victims of the disaster and contribute to early recovery efforts in affected areas.

Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri said the assistance reflects the UAE’s commitment to supporting communities affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

He said the relief operation was based on a comprehensive needs assessment conducted in coordination with Philippine authorities and international organizations to identify priority requirements on the ground.

According to the UAE Aid Agency, the assistance is intended to help address urgent humanitarian needs and provide essential support to affected families as recovery efforts continue.

The aid announcement follows an earlier expression of solidarity from the UAE government after the earthquake struck the Mindanao region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates previously extended its condolences to the families of the victims and expressed support for the Philippine government and people following the disaster.

The UAE is among the countries that have offered assistance and support as Philippine authorities continue rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations in areas devastated by the earthquake.
