President Bongbong Marcos joined the nation in mourning the death of two Filipino seafarers killed in a recent attack by the Yemen rebel group Houthi.
“I join the nation in offering our deepest sympathies to the families of the two Filipino seafarers who perished in the Houthi attack on True Confidence,” said Marcos on his social media platform X formerly Twitter.
Marcos said the government is in constant contact with their families and they will “spare no effort” in bringing their remains home.

The 13 surviving Filipino seafarers, including the three who were injured during the attack, have been safely evacuated and the Philippine Embassy in Cairo is assisting them for their repatriation as soon as possible.
“I have instructed the DFA, DMW-OWWA, DOH, and DSWD to provide assistance to the seafarers and their families,” Marcos added.
The Philippines has also joined global calls to end the attacks and conflict with Houthi and for full respect for the principle of freedom of navigation.
“We remain firmly committed to the safety and welfare of our seafarers and overseas Filipino workers in the region,” said Marcos.
