What if we told you that you can now name new roads in Dubai?

The Dubai Road Naming Committee is encouraging all residents to suggest names for internal roads and avenues in the Emirate as part of their new road naming mechanism.

According to the committee, this new mechanism will integrate elements of the authentic heritage, identity, and futuristic aspirations of the emirate.

For the first time, road names will play a pivotal role in determining land use and development projects for each sector and region.

To make access easier for motorists and visitors, the mechanism will also rely on a combination of names and numbers that are easy to remember.

Roads in Al Khawaneej 2 area have been named during the first phase of the said road naming initiative. The new street names were inspired by local trees and flowers, such as Al Ghaf Street, which was named after one of the most popular local species of trees. The street linked the first and second Khawaneej areas.

In the upcoming phases of the initiative, the committee will announce how residents within respective areas can submit proposals and suggest names for new roads.
