DMW says flight bookings being arranged for Filipinos in Lebanon

The Department of Migrant Workers said that the first batch of overseas Filipino workers in Lebanon may arrive in the country soon as flight bookings and travel requirements are being prepared by the Philippine government.

DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac told CNN Philippines that they are trying their best to evacuate the Filipinos out of Lebanon as soon as possible.

Tensions rise between Israel and Hezbollah militants in recent days.

“Our labor attaché had undertaken community outreach and is currently listing those willing to be repatriated. There are currently flight bookings being arranged and it won’t take long and we will have our first batch of repatriates out of Lebanon as well,” he said in a CNN Philippines interview.

The Department of Foreign Affairs announced that Alert Level 3 has been raised in Lebanon last weekend.

Alert Level 3 means repatriation of Filipinos is now voluntary.

Cacdac said that there are also other avenues for the repatriation of Filipinos, but he did not disclose the routes.
