The public is welcome to honor the late veteran broadcaster Miguel Castro Enriquez, widely known as Mike Enriquez or “Booma,” on Saturday, September 2.
Enriquez, a veteran broadcaster, passed away on August 29, just a month before his 72nd birthday. The news of his demise was officially announced on GMA’s flagship newscast “24 Oras,” a show he co-hosted for nearly two decades, together with his colleague Mel Tiangco.
Enriquez’s long-time home, GMA, has confirmed that the public can pay their respects at Quezon City’s Christ The King Parish on Saturday from 8:30am to 3:00pm, according to his family’s wishes.
Both the family and the network have suggested that visitors contribute to the Kapuso Foundation instead of bringing flowers.
In addition to his role on “24 Oras,” Enriquez gained fame for his work on news and public affairs programs like “Saksi,” “Super Radyo DZBB,” and “Imbestigador.”
Over the past five years, the broadcaster faced multiple health issues, including undergoing a kidney transplant in December 2021. Despite these challenges, he managed to return in time to cover the 2022 national elections after his medical leaves.
