Chinese national faces deportation for faking Filipino citizenship

Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is preparing to deport a Chinese national who pretended to be a Filipino citizen.

Identified as Tai Fang Ching, the 60-year-old Chinese national was apprehended on May 16 in Ermita, Manila by BI agents.

The agents acted on a warrant issued last year by the BI board of commissioners due to his status as an undesirable alien.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco stated, “Those who disrespect our immigration and citizenship laws have no right to stay here. They should be deported and banned from returning to the country.”

After an investigation, the BI discovered that Tai had used the name “Albert Torres Abaya” when registering his business and obtaining a driver’s license and other official documents.

Currently, Tai is held at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending his deportation to China. He will be permanently barred from re-entering the Philippines.
