The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that thousands of people have been preemptively evacuated as Tropical Storm Paeng approaches the country.
In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said that a total of 4,975 persons were preemptively evacuated nationwide.
A total of 1,322 families or 5,266 persons were also affected by Paeng according to the NDRRMC report.

Close to 1,000 passengers have been stranded in several ports of the country due to the storm particularly in the Bicol region and the Visagas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) sais that at least six areas have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 and 17 others under TCWS No. 1.
