The Asian national suffered several burns Thursday and the police had earlier received a call in the morning about a tanker that flipped on to its side in Al Bithnah area of the emirate.

The NSRC said the site was systematically examined by its operations room team, and its search and rescue team was able to evacuate the injured person to Fujairah Hospital and during the operation Police closed Sheikh Maktoum road to traffic in both directions, from Al Bithnah area to Al Farfar roundabout, as firefighters from Fujairah Civil Defence tackled the blaze.

The fire broke out in an oil tanker transporting petroleum materials while it was being driven on Sheikh Maktoum Road, linking Fujairah City and Masafi.

Colonel Khaled Rabea Al Hamoudi, Deputy Director of the Civil Defence Department in Fujairah, said that the civil defence teams controlled the fire.
