The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the start of Acamedic Year 2022-2023.
In memorandum No. 34 Series of 2022, DepEd said that classes “School Year 2022-2023 shall formally open on Monday, August 22, 2022, and shall end on July 7, 2023. It shall consist of 203 school days or as may be determined by further issuance/s in case of changes in the school calendar due to unforeseen circumstances.”
Face-to-face classes shall resume following an earlier announcement of President Bongbong Marcos.
DepEd said that they shall slowly transition the full implementation of face-to-face classes this Academic Year. Blended and full online learning will only be allowed until October 31, 2022 and face-to-face classes shall be fully implemented in all public and private schools starting November 2, 2022.
“Recognizing the COVID-19 pandemic vis-a-vis the need to resume 5 days in-person classes, the DepEd intends for schools to be given ample time to slowly transition into it,” said the DepEd memorandum order issued by Education Secretary Vice President Sara Duterte.
According to DepEd, the Department Order shall apply “regardless of the COVID-l9 alert level imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases or the Department of Health in areas where schools are located.”
