The UAE Federal National Council (FNC) approved two federal bills on the rehabilitation of convicts, allowing them to resume normal lives by finding jobs.
The Council approved a draft law on rehabilitation, which aims to speed up the integration of convicts into society. This was tabled during a session presided over by Saqr Ghobash, the FNC Speaker.

The law facilitates the convicts’ access to a criminal case investigation certificate without precedents, gives access to jobs, and implements the idea of aftercare for convicts as it stipulates that rehabilitation will put an end to deprivation of rights.
A convict must fulfill all their financial obligations specified in the court sentence to the state or to individuals while the law also stipulates that the applicant for rehabilitation must be residing in the country.
