An official of the ruling party PDP-Laban revealed that Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson is among the candidates being considered by the party to be endorsed as presidential bet in the May 2022 elections.
“Andun po si Senator Ping, isa po sa tinitingnan for endorsement for president ng PDP,” Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, PDP-Laban Vice-President for Metro Manila under the faction of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
“In terms of qualification, wala po tayong masasabi kay Sen. Ping, mula noong nasa PNP siya, ilang term ng bilang senator natin,” he added.
Olivarez added that they have yet to meet with other PDP-Laban chapters to finalize their recommendation for a standard-bearer.
The party recently backed the candidacy of vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte.
Senator Bong Go was the party’s original standard-bearer, but he backed out from the race in November 2021 citing some personal reasons.
The chairman of the party, President Rodrigo Duterte, has yet to endorse a presidential bet.
