The crackdown against the bikers and cyclists will be launched in Sharjah’s Al Buhaira area to check the flouting of rules.
Sharjah Police have begun a three-week campaign on Sunday to detect offenders in the Al Buhaira area.
Lt. Col. Mohammed bin Haider of Al Buhaira Comprehensive Police Station said the campaign will seek to bring down the number of accidents on the roads.
The police will increase their presence and monitor cyclists, bikers and scooter riders to ensure safety regulations.
Assisted by Sharjah Municipality, the campaign will target reckless driving as well as non-adherence to the safety rules including wearing of helmets and reflective vests.
Over 20 young drivers died in road accidents in Sharjah last year.
