Oldest Filipino dies at 124

The oldest Filipina living in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, died on Monday night. She was 124.

The death of ‘Lola Isca’ or Francisca Susano was confirmed by her family in a GMA News report.

She recently celebrated her 124th birthday on September 11. The government back then promised to help her family to recognize her as the oldest living person in the world.

The city public information officer of Kabanklan Jake Carlyne Gonzales told CNN Philippines that the local health office has yet to determine the cause of death.

She will also be tested for COVID-19 although the officer said that the Susano did not exhibit related symptoms.

Susano was born on Sept. 11, 1897, even before the Philippines was freed from Spanish rule. (TDT)
