The Palace has rejected the move of some local government unit (LGU) heads to drop the use of face shield in public areas.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in an online briefing: “Kailangan sundin ang chain of command.”
This came following a memorandum signed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno which orders to remove the mandatory face shield policy in the city except in public transportation and hospital settings.
Moreno cited the stand of the Department of Interior and Local Government supporting the removal of the face shield requirement.
Davao and Iloilo City have already removed the mandatory face shield policy pending the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the face shield policy.
The Department of Health said that they still need a week to finalize its decision on the mandatory face shield policy use.
So far, current guidelines allow not wearing of plastic barriers in outdoor areas.
