KNOW THE LAW: Will my wife’s income be counted if I want to sponsor my parents to come to UAE?

Dear TFT,
I want to sponsor my parents in the UAE. What are the requirements including that of the total income? Will my wife’s earnings be calculated for the same? If we do not meet the salary requirements, can I sponsor my parents on humanitarian grounds?

A:

Your wife’s income will not be considered for your salary to sponsor your parents. A set of requirements are to be followed for sponsorship of parents’ residence visa by a son, daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law in Dubai.

Both the parents should be brought or otherwise attested death or divorce certificate by a UAE Embassy in their home country is needed.

An affidavit of dependency certificate attested from one’s Consulate stating that one will take care of the sponsored parents and be responsible for their well-being should also be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of UAE and translated into Arabic.

An original tenancy contract (consisting of a minimum of two bedrooms) to be attested through Ejari (RERA) or registered tenancy contract and electricity bill is another requirement.

The sponsor must have a valid Dubai residence visa and a minimum salary of AED 20,000 per month. On humanitarian grounds, one can contact the Immigration Department to check they will consider the case.
