The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has repatriated over 280 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Doha, Qatar.
In the second repatriation flight from Qatar for August, the flight brought home OFWs including four pregnant women.
The Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (OUMWA) and the Philippine Embassy in Doha (Doha PE) mounted the repatriation.
The Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs posted the information on its official Facebook page.
More than 500 overseas Filipino workers from Qatar were repatriated this month.
Sarah Lou Y. Arriola, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs, said that the arrival was part of the DFA’s efforts in fulfilling its primary duty of providing “prompt and commensurate assistance to our distressed nationals abroad.”
“Today’s arrival is part of the DFA’s sustained efforts in fulfilling its primary duty of providing prompt and commensurate assistance to our distressed nationals abroad,” stated Arriola who is at the House of Representatives for the annual budget hearing.
“We understand that the current pandemic has altered the circumstances of our overseas Filipinos. Through these DFA-sponsored flights, we guarantee our commitment to protect their welfare and well-being,” added the Undersecretary.
