President Rodrigo Duterte has reiterated his plans to run for the country’s second top post citing that there’s no viable opposition candidate in the 2022 polls.
In his recorded speech on Tuesday, Duterte said that the opposition will not win in 2022.
“Sabi ko magtakbo ako ng vice president. Bakit? Walang oposisyon eh. Hindi man manalo iyang opposition. Sigurado ako yung Ocho Derecho ulit na naman iyon. Walang ipinakita sa Pilipinas,” he said.
No one from the opposition slate in 2019 called ‘Ocho Derecho’ won a senate seat.
Malacañang said last week that the President’s intention to seek the vice presidency in the 2022 elections but he will give way if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte decides to run for president in 2022.
