‘Sibak, sibak, sibak’: Palace vows to sack officials if COA-flagged funds proven to be misspent

Officials who are proven to have misspent their agency’s funds will be sacked, Malacañang said Thursday.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque made the assurance in light of the Commission on Audit’s (COA) reports that flagged the spending and management of the budget of several government offices.

“Sa dami po ng nasibak na ni Presidente dahil po sa korapsyon, wala naman po kaduda duda na kung meron namang ebidensya, sibak, sibak, sibak po yan,” Roque said in a press briefing.

“Wag po kayo mag-alala, ‘yan po ay pangako ng Presidente,” he added.

Several agencies have been flagged by the COA over spending of funds.

Most popularly, COA’s report on the Department of Health (DOH) found deficiencies in the management of the agency’s P67.3 billion COVID-19 funds.

Moreover, COA also flagged the P1.2 million worth of sanitary napkins and hygiene kits reportedly purchased by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) purchased from a hardware store as well as the infinity pool built by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
