Dubai Police seized more than Dh9.3 billion-worth of fake items over the past five years.
In a tweet, Dubai Police said its special unit, the Department of Anti-Economic Crime, was able to record as many as 2,235 economic crime cases in the course of the last five years.

So far this year, the anti-economic crime unit has recorded 315 economic crimes, with more than AED1.73 billion worth of fake items seized.
Meanwhile, nearly 923,724 counterfeit goods were seized by the UAE Customs sector in 2020.
Ali Saeed Matar Al Neyadi, Commissioner of Customs, and Chairman of the FCA, stressed that combating the smuggling of counterfeit commodities and protecting intellectual property rights are paramount in nationwide customs functions.
