WATCH: Filipino students create innovative gloves that ‘speak’ Filipino sign language

Now even ‘Gloves’ can speak — as some students proved by developing trainable gloves that change Filipino sign language into speech.

The electrical engineering students at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges have made these gloves as part of their thesis titled “Filipino Sign Language to Voice Converter.”

Francis De Guzman — one of the students – shared a video of their discovery on Facebook, which soon became viral on social media.

The video highlighted a student describing their thesis by demonstrating use of the gloves in sign language, where the hand movements got interpreted into voice at the same time.

Stating that the gloves work through sensors and Wi-Fi connectors in changing hand movement into speech, the students said that such gloves could help the deaf and others with speech impediments to speaking clearly. (AW)
