Abu Dhabi set to allow cruise liners by September 1

The maritime tourism in Abu Dhabi will see a major boost as the capital allows cruise ships to dock again after more than a year.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT) announced the resumption cruise operations beginning September 1.

This move is part of the efforts to revive the emirate’s tourism sector after the impressive results achieved in combatting the spread of the pandemic.

Ali Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the resumption of cruise liners is yet another step towards strengthening the UAE capital’s position as a world-class hub for maritime tourism.

All cruise passengers must be fully vaccinated against coronavirus, according to Noura Rashed Al Dhaheri, the managing director of cruise business for Abu Dhabi Ports.

“We are well prepared to receive and welcome vaccinated visitors to the UAE’s capital once again and are excited to see the resumption of cruise activities at both Zayed Port and Sir Bani Yas Island,” Al Dhaheri said.

“Cruise passengers visiting Abu Dhabi can be assured that every measure to safeguard their health and safety during their stay is being undertaken,” she added.
