UAE residents can now use Emirates ID as proof of vaccination status and result of PCR tests at entry and exit points of Dubai Airports.
It comes after Dubai-based flag carrier Emirates Airline entered into a deal with Dubai Health Authority to launch a digital verification system for the PCR result and vaccination status of passengers.
This move aims to speed up check-ins at the airport, in time for the summer season when there is an influx of travelers overseas.
The agreement will see a full digital verification of Covid-19 medical records between Emirates Airline and Dubai Health Authority.
The deal will remove the need for UAE residents to present a physical negative test certificate or vaccination card.
Passengers will only need to insert their Emirates ID into a card reader when they arrive at check-in points.
Emirates chief operating officer Adel Al Redha said the deal is a testament to Dubai’s progressive approach in delivering innovative digital solutions across all aspects of services
“Our partnership with the Dubai Health Authority in managing passenger travel is unique and is a first step towards other initiatives that will be launched in the near future,” said Al Redha.
