Malacañang has bared President Rodrigo Duterte’s possible choices for the 2022 presidential race.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the list includes Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, his longtime aide and now Senator Bong Go, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila City Mayor Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, and ex-senator Bongbong Marcos.
“Noong kinausap ko siya diyan, wala pa siyang desisyon, mayroon lang siya talagang mga options na sinabi,” Malacañang said in a media briefing.
Roque however clarified that based on his recent talk with Duterte, the chief executive is not inclined in allowing his daughter Sara to run.
“Ang rekomendasyon niya ay ‘wag tumakbo. That’s the latest I heard from the President’s own mouth,” he said.
Malacañang clarified that the president is now focused in addressing the pandemic rather than the 2022 elections.
“Ang importante naman ay mabakunahan ang pinakamarami nating mga kababayan, nang sa ganoon ay magkaroon tayo ng eleksyon kung saan ay ‘yung mga tao at mga kandidato ay magkakaroon ng pagkakataon ng magkakaroon ng panayam at makaboto ng pinakamabuting mga kandidato,” Roque said.
