Dubai fines 56 stores for flouting COVID-19 safety rules

A total of 56 establishments were fined by Dubai Economy for failure to enforce COVID-19 safety rules.

The Dubai Economy conducted inspection campaigns during the 3-day super sale and observed failure to imposed social distancing in queues at payment counters.

Inspectors from Dubai Economy penalized 32 stores in malls across the emirate, mostly for breaches related to face masks and social distancing.

The authority also fined 20 restaurants and cafes for operating dine-in services beyond the allowed working hours while four open market shops were penalized for violation of other safety measures.

The erring establishments are located in malls and markets in Al Barsha, Hor Al Anz, Dubai Marina, and Saih Shuaib.

The Dubai Economy assured that inspections will continue to ensure public safety, especially in shopping malls and other areas that drawing huge crowds.

The authority also called on retailers to adhere to the Covid-19 precautionary measures while the public is encouraged to report any breaches through the Dubai Consumer app, by calling 600 545555 o its official website consumerrights.ae (RA)
