UAE launches inoculation drive for 15,000 Syrian refugees in Iraq

The Emirates Red Crescent has launched the first phase of its vaccination program to inoculate Syrian refugees and displaced persons in refugees camps in Erbil, Iraq.

The vaccination program aims to inoculate 15,000 Syrian refugees and Iraq displaced persons in Iraqi Kurdistan refugees against COVID-19.

The program will use COVID-19 jabs developed by Chinese drug firm Sinopharm.

The move is in accordance with the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the Honorary Chairwoman of the ERC.

The vaccination initiative was launched in Dibkah Camp in northern Iraq.

ERC Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi explained that the program is aimed at helping the Iraqi displaced people, and Syrian refugees survive the tough economic conditions triggered by the pandemic and speed up the recovery drive in Iraqi Kurdistan.
