The UAE is clamping down heavily on obscenity with the Public Prosecution warning residents that anyone who performs any indecent acts within the country in public will face heavy fines and will be sentenced to spend time in jail.
The UAE Public Prosecution reminded residents that people involved in any acts of indecency in public would be liable to a fine of not less than AED 1,000 and not more than AED 50,000.

The authority highlighted Article (358) of the Federal Penal Code, which stated that any repetition of such indecent acts in public shall be punishable by imprisonment for a period of not less than three months, and a fine not more than AED 100,000 or one of the two.
The same punishment would be applicable to any person who makes any statement or does any act that violates the principles of public morality, it added.

“Whoever commits a disgraceful act with a female or a male aged less than fifteen years of age — even in a private place — shall be imprisoned for no less than one year,” according to the the Public Prosecution through its social media channels, as part of its awareness drive on legal culture and awareness for the public.
