30th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair to begin on May 23

The 30th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) will be a bibliophile’s delight given the impressive lineup of authors, varied programmes including interactive sessions catering to every taste and a global participation from more than 45 countries. More than 800 exhibitors from 46 countries are expected to be part of this week-long event that starts Sunday, May 23.

To be held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from May 23 – 29, the fair will have over 100 virtual and physical sessions.

The organisers have also joined hands with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).

The programme boasts a rich cultural, professional and educational offering in both Arabic and English, in addition to an exciting line-up of artistic performances. Both local and international cultural institutions and organisations will be part of the fair which will also include programmes and seminars where renowned authors and publishers will brainstorm on the latest trends in the publishing industry.

Given the danger of pandemic looming large, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) will host the ADIBF with strict protocols in place to ensure the safety of visitors and participants.

Thermal scanners, sanitisation and disinfection procedures will be followed stringently, and disinfectant fogging machines will also be used. All visitors and participants will be required to have a negative result for Covid-19 from a PCR test and social distancing is mandated across Adnec facilities.

Those who wish to attend must get themselves registered in advance to obtain an electronic access card. Visitors can register through the exhibition’s website at adbookfair.com, or through the mobile application available on the App Store and Play Store. (AW)
