Sharjah Police arrested a seven-member gang of Asian nationals for attempting to smuggle narcotics amid the Eid Al Fitr holidays.
The anti-narcotics department of the police force seized a total of 115kg of illegal drugs and more than 51,000 narcotic tablets from the suspects.
Lt. Col. Majid Al Assam, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at the Sharjah Police, said authorities became on high alert of the group’s activities during the Eid break after receiving a tip-off.
The police coordinated with the Marine Facilities and Coastal Protection Agency and other agencies to track the movement of the perpetrators in the emirate that led to their arrest.
