Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in their host countries.
“Ineengganyo rin natin ang OFW na magpabakuna rin kung nasaan man sila,” Roque said in a palace briefing.
The palace spokesperson said the Philippine government is ready to repatriate overseas Filipinos especially in India, where the second surge of infections was reported.

“We ask our OFWs na sumunod sa “mask, hugas, iwas.” Naghahanda na nga po tayo ng mga hakbang para sa repatriation,” he said.
Roque said the government is preparing a repatriation flight for OFWs in India after the travel ban in the country ends by May 14.

Currently, the Philippines has a policy that requires foreign employers or host countries to ensure that OFWs would be inoculated against COVID-19 prior to deployment.
The move ensures that outbound OFWs will be vaccinated in their destination country if COVID-19 jabs are not available in the country. (RA)
