The United States government announced that it will share up to 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca to other countries in the next few weeks.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday said the US would release the doses to other countries as soon as they become available.
According to Psaki, 10 million doses will be exported “in coming weeks” while 50 million doses are currently being developed and will be delivered by May or June.
She said however that the US currently has no AstraZeneca vaccines available.
According to AP report, the Biden administration is still determining the process on where and how it will share the COVID-19 jabs.
“We will consider a range of options from our partner countries and, of course, much of that will be through direct relationships,” Psaki stated.
The vaccine developed by the British vaccine manufacturer is not yet authorized for use by the US Food and Drug Administration.
