Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto say that there is no need for permits for people to set up community pantries.
“Community pantry organizers deserve to be thanked for their generosity during the pandemic,” Moreno told reporters in a text message.
“We don’t require permit, good deeds need no permit,” he added.

Moreno said that the community pantries will serve as an inspiration for the city.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mamamayan na gumagawa ng kabutihan sa kapwa. Manatili po sanang ganyan at walang susuko. Kaya natin ito. At may awa ang Diyos, makakaraos din tayo,” he said.
Sotto also said that permit is not needed for community pantries in Pasig.

“Wala po tayong ‘Permit to Help’ We commend the individuals who are helping as they can afford,” he added.
“Government has limited resources, so any effort to help others is very welcome,” he explained. (TDT)
