UAE achieves vaccination milestone of over 7 million jabs

The UAE has reached another milestone with over seven million COVID-19 vaccine jabs administered as of March 19, Friday.

Data from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) states that 7,124,146 doses have been provided for free to the public, following March 19’s daily dose record of 143,680 for the past 24 hours.

The COVID-19 vaccination rate in the UAE is now at 72.03 doses per 100 people. The UAE is currently second after Israel worldwide for the cumulative doses provided per 100 individuals.

At present, there are 205 medical centres around the UAE that provide free jabs for the public. The UAE’s national vaccination drive currently focuses on the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

Earlier, the country also revealed that it has achieved its target population in the middle of March, with more than 52 per cent of the country’s residents who already received both doses of the vaccine.

The ongoing vaccination program against COVID-19 is in line with the Ministry of Health and Prevention ‘s plan to provide the Covid-19 vaccine to all members of society and efforts to reach acquired immunity resulting from the vaccination, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the Covid-19 virus.
