There’s now an electronic service that residents can access so they can challenge the fines for violating COVID safety rules in the UAE.
This is made available through the public prosecution website (www.pp.gov.ae) or via their app.
Salem Ali Al Zaabi, acting chief prosecutor of the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Prosecution, said the authority has 12 sub-committees and over 60 public prosecutors nationwide to look into any complaint about COVID-19 fines.
An individual who has been charged with a fine may file a complaint by following the simple steps indicated on the website and the app which include providing personal information, fine details, and the reasons for challenging the fine.
Al Zaabi explained that they will be the ones that will examine complaints based on the existing rules and regulations. It will be the duty of the prosecution to investigate every relevant complaint and decide whether to cancel the fine or uphold it.
Currently, fines for violating the Covid safety rules in the UAE range from AED500 to AED50,000.
For more information about this, Al Zaabi added the prosecution is also reachable via their hotline 80099999.
