A Filipino has been appointed by US President Joe Biden to sit as the White House Liaison.
Filipino-American Jason Tengco has been appointed to the post as announced by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in a post on its website January 25, 2021.
The OPM serves as the chief human resources agency and personnel policy manager for the federal government.

Tengco served as the Chief of Staff for the Biden-Harris campaign’s Coalitions Department, who also served as the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Outreach Lead on the transition team.
He also worked AS Executive Director of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations, National AAPI Outreach Director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on AAPIs.
Tengco has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA and a Master’s in Public Affairs from UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy.

His appointment and 13 others is “in support of OPM’s mission and the Biden Administration’s commitment to build a federal workforce that reflects the diversity of America.”
Chris Canning, incoming Chief of Staff, said this is a promise he made to the American people that “he would assemble diverse and talented teams that look like America”. (ES)
