The Integrated Transport Center (ITC) in Abu Dhabi has announced the fines in Abu Dhabi’s DARB toll, which has been activated from January 1.
According to the new guidelines as reported by Khaleej Times, vehicles that have not yet been registered in the Darb traffic toll system will pay a fine of AED100 if they fail to sign up after the grace period of 10 working day.
The second offence will be given a fine of AED200 after the end of grace period.
Meanwhile, unregistered vehicle will also be slapped with a AED400 fine for every gate crossed after the second violation.
For registered vehicles with insufficient balance, a AED50 fine will be given after a grace period of five working days. According to the guidelines, this will apply if the vehicle’s plates are not affiliated with Abu Dhabi.
Those caught tampering with license plates to evade tolls will be punished with a AED10,000 fine.
Any damage to the the electronic payment devices or the toll gates, on the other hand, will be handed a fine worth AED10,000.
Abu Dhabi’s DARB toll gates, which are located on all the major bridges leading to the emirate, has started charging AED4 on January 2.
