The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has begun the trial phase of using artificial intelligence to better manage crowds and decrease the waiting time of Dubai metro commuters.
RTA states that the new technology would help assist the management of the Dubai Metro’s commuters especially during peak hours at some metro stations, and during public events where demand increases significantly.

“The artificial intelligence technology contributed to proposing specific periods and redistributing the demand to improve the customers’ experience by offering them definite timings for boarding that enable them timely reaching to their destinations,” read the tweet from RTA.
The experimental use of the artificial intelligence has already produced result by reducing the congestion from 50% to 60% and the waiting time to a maximum of 30 minutes only, with strict adherence to preventive measures among all commuters.
RTA is currently continuing their studies of the AI-powered tech to for further feasibility studies.
