WATCH: Dubai prepares visual traffic plan for motorists, commuters for New Year’s Eve at Burj Khalifa

Dubai residents and visitors who are planning to watch the spectacular fireworks, lightshow, and fountain display for the New Year’s Eve celebrations are advised to be mindful of temporary road closures and other COVID-19 preventive guidelines that they need to follow.

All roads leading to the Burj Khalifa area will be temporarily closed on the 31st of December – with most of the nearby roads to be closed starting from 4:00 pm including the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, the Financial Center road lower deck, and the Al Asayel Road.

The Dubai Metro station will be temporarily closed starting from 5:00 pm, December 31 and will reopen by 6:00 am, January 1.

Audiences will need to book their tickets prior to attending via the UbyEmaar app.

Motorists can park their car at any of the 16,700 parking slots in the Emaar area, Dubai Mall, including the Zabeel extension parking.

Around 200 buses will be available to take the audience from the event area to locations where metro stations, and taxis are made available. Shuttle buses locations include the Sheikh Zayed Road, next to Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall metro station, the lower and upper deck of DIFC Burj Khalifa road, and the business Bay metro station.

To ensure everyone’s safety, audiences are advised to follow these guidelines and instructions.

– Use the public transportation to arrive at the events area.
– Do not park in surrounding areas of the event, especially at Sheikh Zayed road or Al Khail streets to ensure traffic safety, and keep the way open for emergency vehicles
– Adhere to wearing your face masks at all times and maintain physical distancing
– Ensure to follow the information signs, and to abide by the instructions of security staff.
– Do not leave your belongings and attended.

In the unlikely event of an emergency, or if you need first aid help, residents are advised to head to one of the tents available for that purpose, around the event area.
