President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Metro Manila together with 9 other areas will stay under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), effective from January 1-31, 2021.
Other areas under GCQ are as follows: Isabela, Santiago City, Batangas, Iloilo, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City, Davao City, Davao del Norte.
The rest of the country will under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).
The decision came amid the possibility of a post-holiday surge in COVID-19 cases. But so far the country has recorded low COVID-19 cases in the last 2 days.
On Monday, the Department of Health has recorded 470,650 COVID-19 case, including 9,124 deaths and 438,780 recoveries.
