WATCH: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed calls family of fallen Pinay nurse in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has personally called the families of the fallen frontline UAE heroes over the phone to offer his condolences and praise the sacrifices they have made for the country.

Among those His Highness was able to speak on the phone with Julius Concepcion, whose wife Lezly Orine, a Filipina nurse in Abu Dhabi, was struck down by COVID-19 in May 2020.

During the phone conversation, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his condolences to Julius and his appreciation Lezly’s great sacrifice. His Highness added, “And if there’s anything we can do or help, don’t hesitate because of what she has done for us…[inaudible].”

Ocampo was supposed to visit her child in the Philippines, but couldn’t due to travel restrictions. Instead, she devoted her time as a medical frontliner in the Gulf state.

In another phone call, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed spoke to the wife of Dr. Sudhir Rambhau Washimkar of Burjeel Hospital Al Ain to offer his condolences.

“Good evening ma’am. This is Mohamed Bin Zayed speaking. It is an honor to call you today to offer my condolences. We are so lucky to have somebody like you, who worked with us and sacrificed for us…” said His Highness.

To all the families of the fallen heroes, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince conveyed the debt of gratitude of the UAE people.

The families, meanwhile, thanked His Highness for personally sending his condolences and following up on their needs during their moment of grief.

Earlier, Lezly, along with other fallen frontliners including another Pinoy nurse in UAE, Marlon Jimenea, was also honored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during a Commemoration Day ceremony at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi.

Marlon, 44, was assigned to the intensive care unit of the University Hospital of Sharjah. He was the first Filipino frontliner in the UAE who died of COVID-19.

The UAE Vice President laid a wreath as a tribute to the medical practitioners who have lost their lives while performing their duties in the frontline against COVID-19. A 21-gun salute was offered by the army.
