Former Senator Bongbong Marcos has demanded Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen to refrain from the poll protest case he filed against Vice President Leni Robredo.
Marcos asked the high court to re-raffle the election protests and resolution to other pending incidents related to his protest.
He said that Justice Leonen has clearly prejudiced the case, hostile to him and his family.
“It is clear that we’ll never get justice if Leonen is around because of his hatred towards me and my family. This is evidenced by his past decisions where he unequivocally condemned me and my family. Its obvious he’s doing everything in his power to suppress the real story behind the 2016 Vice-Presidential elections, disenfranchising millions of Filipinos who wanted nothing but credible elections,” he said.
The former senator said that he is not afraid that the move will further delay the case and if Leonen will continue to sit in the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) then the case will be further delayed.
“At least pag wala na sya may pag-asa na hindi ma-delay,” he added.
In 2018, Marcos also sought for the inhibition of Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa citing his “close ties” with friend and former President Noynoy Aquino. Marcos said the justice “cannot deny that he is biased with the yellow brigade.”
The Supreme Court, however, slammed Marcos’ team and said that any unfounded and inappropriate accusation made will be dealt severely.
Marcos lost to Robredo in the 2016 national elections.
