His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, revealed that the UAE will be sending a 100% Emirati made rover to the Moon this 2024
This will mark the UAE’s legacy as the first Arab country to explore the moon, and the fourth country to do so globally.
“We have launched the Emirates Lunar Mission, a 100% Emirati-made lunar rover that will land on the surface of the moon by 2024 in areas not yet reached by previous exploration missions,” tweeted His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

His Highness also announced that the name of the rover will be “Rashid” honoring the late Sheikh Rashid and his vision of Dubai as a developed, and technologically advanced city known worldwide.
“We named the rover “Rashid” in honor of the man who sparked #Dubai’s advancement,” said His Highness.
