The number of fatalities in a gas leak explosion in Abu Dhabi last August 31 has climbed to three.
The latest confirmed fatality is a Sri Lankan expat, reported Khaleej Times.
According to the report, the Sri Lankan Embassy said that they were able to confirm the body of the victim upon visiting a hospital where some of the injured were taken.
Another Sri Lankan, the embassy said, is undergoing treatment in the ICU.
“The Sri Lanka Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Foreign Ministry are in contact with the UAE law enforcement and hospital authorities to provide the necessary assistance,” the embassy said.
Earlier, the Philippines’ Foreign affairs department, through the Philippine Embassy, confirmed the death of two Filipinos in the incident.
Meanwhile, according to Philippines’ labor department, at least 10 Filipinos were injured in the blast, including two children. Most of the victims have already been discharged from hospital and only two are undergoing treatment.
